چکیده

The co-contamination of soils with heavy metals and organic contaminants is a problem that requires different innovative approach to remediate these kinds sites. nature two contaminant groups makes the complicated. Recently, zero-valent iron nanoparticles (nZVI) application has been integrated bioremediation be used for remediation halogenated organics. However, use this process co-contaminated not investigated. In study, nZVI approaches (bioattenuation biostimulation) was applied Pb naphthalene spiked in laboratory-scale reactors. Soil fractions concentrations were monitored 90 days. decreased mobility bioavailability significantly by reducing exchangeable carbonate bound from 66.2 % 25.8 – 37.2 range. also caused degradation range 38.8 58.5 %. Significant biodegradation occurred at samples subjected biostimulation. highest overall (76.7 %) obtained which

Persistence of commercial nanoscaled zero-valent iron (nZVI) and by-products

The use of nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) for in situ remediation of a wide scale of environmental pollutants is increasing. Bench and field pilot studies have recorded successful cleanup of many pollutants using nZVI and other iron-mediated nanoparticles. However, a major question remains unanswered: what is the long-term environmental fate of the iron nanoparticles used for remediation? We...

Degradation of Lindane by Zero-Valent Iron Nanoparticles

Thus far, zero-valent iron has been studied mostly for the degradation of structurally simple oneand two-carbon halogenated organic contaminants such as chlorinated methanes, ethanes, and ethenes. In this research, laboratory synthesized particles of nanoscale iron were explored to degrade lindane, also known as -hexachlorocyclohexane, a formerly widely utilized pesticide and well-documented pe...
